Cabin Boy
Cabin Boy was the Khai Tam nickname for Justin Carmical. Members of the club who were particularly active or noteworthy generally were given (or adopted) nicknames.
Origin
When John "OJ" Carney joined Khai Tam he was instantly likable. An unassuming sort, he always came off as easy going and affectionate. Perhaps a little too affectionate for his own good. Poking fun at John's good nature (and boyish good looks), Captain Jon Reddick frequently referred to him as his cabin boy. While it became his tongue-in-cheek position aboard ship, it wasn't really used as a nickname, since he already had the established nickname of "OJ."
Evenutally OJ graduated from FSU and moved away from Tallahassee, leaving the position of "cabin boy" vacant. Shortly thereafter Justin Carmical, another likeable, affectionate, and boyishly handsome lad joined the Khai Tam's motley crew.
Never let it be said Jon ever missed an opportunity to have a little fun at someone else's expense.
Justin quickly became the new cabin boy, but Justin had a more sophisticated sense of humor than his predecessor, relishing the innuendo, and playing up his response to Jon's double entendre. Eventually Justin and "Cabin Boy" became synonymous.
