You're being really, really loud

"You're being REALLY, REALLY loud." -- Ro Reddick

Origin

This famous quote was first uttered by USS Khai Tam Member and XO Ro Reddick during the wee hours of the morning at a Vulkon attended by the ship in the summer of 1994 in Orlando, Florida. At this particular convention the ship had two shared hotel rooms with an adjoining door. One room, designated the Party Room, was occupied by members Kevin "Tai" McNulty, Ingrid Bryan, John "OJ" Carney, George "Pakled" Sumpter, and Colin Toenjes among others. Ro and the remainder of the ship's conventioniers were in the room next door- the Sleep Room.

The occupants of the Party Room were having a particularly animated and amusing conversation about the personality quirk of a shipmate who constantly tried to one-up other people by blurting out the most outrageous and obviously fictious claims. For example, if one person said "I just got a pair of Nikes" then this person might say something like "That's nothing! My uncle invented Nikes!"

It was, in fact, this particular example that had just been stated by one of the Party Room guests when hardy laughter ensued. In the middle of the laughter a disheveled and obviously perturbed Ro, just having her sleep interrupted stumbled through the adjoining door. In a low and stern tone she scolded her laughing shipmates, "You're being really, REALLY loud." Without another word she stumbled back to bed.

Perhaps it was just the context, the goofy mood of the party room, or the sleep deprivation of its members, but Colin, OJ, Ingrid, George and Tai found it hilarious. For years afterward when anyone was being loud and obnoxious one of the original Party Room crew would inevitably utter, "You guys are being really, REALLY loud."
