Origin

Colin Toenjes, Chief Engineer of the USS Khai Tam from 1993 to 1996, was the unwitting source of this club meme. While helping with a civic event at Deer Lake Middle School in Tallahassee, FL, members were enjoying pizza for lunch during a break. Colin, spent from standing out in the heat in his uniform, limped exhausted and sweating into the break room and threw himself leaning onto the first smooth surface he encountered. Not seeing anything to drink in evidence, Colin inquired if anyone had seen a Coke machine. When the laughter subsided, it was pointed out to him that he happened to be leaning against one.

Usage

This sequence of events quickly spread throughout the crew, and evolved rapidly into "Has anyone seen Colin?" "Has anyone seen Engineering?" and a multiplicity of similar-themed references riffing off of his inability to locate the soda machine.
