Radar was the Khai Tam nickname for Mary Kleinfeldt. Members of the club who were particularly active or noteworthy generally were given (or adopted) nicknames.

For much of her career with the Khai Tam, Mary served as the ship's Department Chief- Operations. As such, she played a role very administrative in nature, much like the character of Corporal Walter "Radar" O'Reilly in the television series M*A*S*H. Her similarly adept execution of her role led to the use of the same nickname by the crew.
Mary also had second nickname which played on the complexity of her last name: That was Mary Kleinfeldtenbegermeistersteinenhausen.
