Rimjob

Rimjob is the poker nickname for Michael Karmanos.

Origin

Mike's poker nickname has nothing to do with either poker or the lewd sexual act it implies.

The name originated over an incident involving a piece of office equipment. Mike was having trouble getting an often-malfunctioning flatbed scanner to initialize and went to Jon seeking help.

Jon looked over the software, and the scanner, and tried to restart both, and then came to the realization that the scanner's power cable had come uplugged. Jon then commented, rather sarcastically, the first thing that came to mind to chide Mike about his oversight, "Why don't you try plugging it in, ya rimjob?"

The one-off comment would likely have died right there, but another co-worker, Mike Creamer (aka Creamer), happened to be passing through the room at that same moment. The line struck him as particularly amusing, and caused him to laugh maniacally for a full fifteen seconds.

In the ensuing days, Creamer would pass through Mike's work area, speak not a word, and just smile knowingly, point, and laugh out loud.

Due in large part to Mike's frustrated reaction to these walk-throughs, the name "Rimjob" stuck.

Though considered fairly obscene for its sexual innuendo, it is used in good fun when referring to Mike because of the humor surrounding its origin.

Despite its spirit, the nickname still seems to get his goat.

Mike has been quoted as saying, "The name Rimjob was given to me by my pain in the ass ex-boss Jon Reddick. It's not really that funny but Jon stuck to it, mainly because he's a dick. Oh, and Creamer your [sic] a dick also."

Attempts to Change

Evidence of the persistence of "Rimjob"

Mike has campaigned for years to have his poker nickname changed to "Gator" to represent his enthusiasm for the Florida Gator athletics program. Though we have in many ways acquiesced (changing his nametag, name on the rosters, etc.), it's evident that the original nickname will never quite go away. For example, a ghost of "Rimjob" can often be seen along with "Gator" on official rosters.

Further, Mike is always haunted by the reminder of this nickname always making its way into his tournament materials somehow. One year, the Florida Gator logo, which is an alligator mascot wearing a sweater with the collegiate "F" for Florida on his chest, appeared on his commemorative muck protector, only the "F" was mysteriously replaced with an "R".
