In the ''Star Trek'' universe, [http://memory-alpha.org/en/wiki/Klingon_opera Klingon Opera] is generally under-appreciated by humans who find it dischordant, loud, and somehwat obnoxious. In the world of the [[USS Khai Tam]], Klingon Opera had a very real, very personal and somewhat comperable meaning.

On the ''Khai Tam'', as on many STARFLEET ships, members adopt personas that fit their personalities. On ''Khai Tam'', many crew members, nearly half in fact, had adopted a Klingon or part-Klingon persona of some sort. The captain of the ship in its heyday, [[Jon Reddick]], had a Klingon persona, as did ship member James "[[Cannon]]" Lewis, both of whom snore relentlessly. During this period, Raye "[[Blackjack]]" Crews also snored with fervor, though she has since improved due to significant weight loss.

If all three were sleeping in the same hotel room at a convention, others were sure to get inadequate sleep. The first time that this happened, the next morning ship XO [[Ro Reddick]] made reference to "the Klingon Opera'' that had been going on all night. Sympathetic shipmates picked up on the reference and the three (or any combination thereof) became the legendary '''Klingon Opera''' of the USS khai Tam.
