As a little girl, her family lived in [http://www.ci.thousand-oaks.ca.us Thousand Oaks, CA] and in Maryland, but the Phillips' eventually settled in [http://www.ci.brea.ca.us Brea, CA] in 1975 where Debbie remained through college graduation. Her parents still live in Brea.<br />

As a teen, she attended [http://www.bousd.k12.ca.us/schools/brea_olinda/default.asp Brea Olinda High School] (the old one, before they tore it down and built the new one) from which she graduated with honors in 1982. She went on to study electrical engineering at [http://www.csupomona.edu California Polytechnic University, Pomonoa]. She graduated from Cal Poly with a BS in Electrical Engineering in 1987.<br />

With the exception of a couple of retail jobs in her teenage years, Debra has worked her entire adult life as an engineer. She started while still in college as a co-op student at [http://www.generaldyanmics.com General Dynamics], who hired her permanently after graduation. <br />

After years with the Valley Systems and Electronics Division, she left the defense industry for the traffic industry, starting software engineering work for [http://www.peekglobal.com Peek Traffic] in Tallahassee. <br />

In 2005, she crossed to greener pastures by accepting an offer from Peek competitor [http://www.econolite.com/ Econolite]where she works to this day. Ironically, Econolite is actually located in Anaheim, only a few miles from where she grew up. She telecommutes to work from her home in Palmetto, FL.<br />

Debbie married [[Kevin McNulty|Kevin James McNulty]] on September 4, 1988 in Santa Ana, CA. They moved to Tallahassee in 1991 where both their children were subsequently born. Their son [[Sean McNulty|Sean Patrick McNulty]] was born on February 19, 1993, and their daughter [[Erin McNulty|Erin Caitlin McNulty]] was born on July 12, 1995. <br />

The McNultys are ''[http://www.polyamory.org/ polyamorous]'' meaning they believe in sustainable, romantic relationships with multiple partners in an atmosphere of love, honesty, and constant, open communication. Both Kevin and Debbie have other partners, and Debbie has been seeing her boyfriend since 1996. Kevin's girlfriend, [[Pamela Harper|Pamela Kay Harper]], lives with the family in Palmetto. Kevin met Pamela through mututal friends in 2003, and Pamela moved in with the family later that same year. <br />
