'''JOOS''' was the ''[[USS Khai Tam|Khai Tam]]'' nickname for John Rogers.  Members of the club who were particularly active or noteworthy generally were given (or adopted) nicknames.

==Origin==
At the time John joined the ''Khai Tam'', there were several other existing members named John.  It was already a ship's tradition by this time to supply subsequent Johns with catchy nicknames to avoid having to simply call them, "John" since that was reserved for Captain [[Jon Reddick]].  John Rogers already had a nickname or two, so when concerned was expressed about his "John-ness" he responded something to the effect of "Well, ya'll only call me John on Sundays (the ship's meeting day) anyway."

And so JOOS (John Only On Sundays) was born.

In the months and years that followed, more Johns would join the club (see [[Eight of Eight]]).  This prompted the [[Informal Ship's Motto]], "The USS ''Khai Tam'', where you may not be able to find a bathroom, but you can always find a John."
