==Childhood==
Denise was born in Columbia, SC at Providence Hospital in 1966. When she was five years old her parents got a divorce. For two years she was shuttled between the two of them, attending four schools in her first two years. When she was seven she went to live with her maternal grandparents who became her Mom and Daddy. At that point her childhood became fairly uneventful filled with summer camps and TAG programs until she was 15 years old. That's when her Daddy died suddenly. Unfortunately, she was just coming out of that teenaged funk and realizing that maybe her Daddy was smarter than she thought he was. Talk about missed opportunities! But from that point forward her Mom was mom and dad to her and Mom did a wonderful job - becoming absolutely the wind beneath her wings.

She has two sons, James and Joey. They're teenagers now (Joey almost) and life is getting interesting because of that. But they're wonderful kids.

The '''Kevin Bacon Game''', also known as [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kevin_Bacon_Game Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon] is based on a variation of the concept of the small world phenomenon and states that any actor can be linked, through their film roles, to actor Kevin Bacon.

The game requires a group of players to try to connect any film actor in history to Kevin Bacon as quickly as possible and in as few links as possible. The game was played across various college campuses as early as the early 1990s. Its name is a pun on the stage play Six Degrees of Separation. In 2007, Bacon himself started a charitable organization named SixDegrees.org.

==Significance==
The Kevin Bacon Game was played prolifically by certain members of the [[USS Khai Tam]] during the late ninties, espceically during road trips to various science fiction conventions. Certain members played so ferverently, that some other members would actually demand they stop.

Three of the usual culprits, [[Kevin McNulty]], [[George Sumpter]], and [[Gerbil Boy|Scott Campbell]] even went so far as to create a ''Star Trek'' version of the game to run at a convention. Called, "Six Degrees of Trek," the game involved the panel of three linking actors shouted out by the audience to actors who had been regulars on a ''Trek'' series. Candy was passed out to anyone who could stump the panel.

[[Erin McNulty]] made a very memorable entrance into this world on July 12, 1995. After hours of labor, mother Debbie was exhausted but ready to get things over with. Kevin was sitting next to the midwife ready to help deliver little Erin as he had her brother [[Sean McNulty|Sean]]. Family friend [[OJ|Jon Carney]] was holding Debbie’s hand serving as labor coach, and the pushing was under full steam. Erin’s head cleared the birth canal, and Kevin saw her little scalp suddenly turn from pink to purple to blue.

“Call high risk!” said the midwife.

In 20 seconds the room was filled with people and Kevin had been pushed aside. Erin’s shoulder was stuck, and her umbilical cord was looped over her shoulder so that the pressure of being stuck in the birth canal was pinching off the vital blood supply.

Nurses helped Jon prop up Debbie’s back so she could bear down. She had only seconds to push Erin the rest of the way out. Pushing the baby back in and performing an emergency C-section was not a great option, but they were fast running out of alternatives. Everyone was shouting at Debbie to push as Kevin sat helplessly by. Debbie was so focused on pushing that she really had no idea what was happening. She hadn’t heard the midwife say the words “high risk.”

Finally, the pushing worked and Erin was delivered. She was blue and limp. She made no sound or movement. The midwife quickly moved her to the warming table where a nurse was waiting with oxygen. They waved the open-ended oxygen tube under the baby’s nose, and rubbed her vigorously with towels to get her circulation flowing again.

“Breathe, baby, breath,” was all Kevin could mutter from the corner.

Finally, Erin began to cough and stir. In a few seconds, she began to cry. It was the most wonderful sound in the world to Kevin. The whole thing had only taken about a minute, but it was the longest minute of his life.

Challenger Disaster

At 11:38 a.m. EST the ship lifted from its launchpad with seven American astronauts, and 73 seconds later, Challenger [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space_Shuttle_Challenger_disaster was no more].

Below are the memories of [[REDdimension Wiki Circle]] members relating where they were when the shuttle exploded in the sky over the Atlantic Ocean just off Florida's east coast and how the national tragedy impacted their lives.

Kevin was 22 and finishing his last semester at California State University, Fullerton. He was asleep at 8:38 a.m. Pacific Time since he didn't have a class on Tuesday until 10:00. Somewhere around 8:45, his mother rushed in to wake him.

"Kev, the space shuttle exploded..."

Trying to wrap his still-dawning consciousness around the thought, he stumbled into the living room to see the news replaying every camera angle they could, trying to determine what had happened. Though they weren't saying anything official, it was clear to Kevin that no one had survived.

On the way to school, Kevin stopped at a fabric store to buy a few inches of black ribbon to pin to his shirt. It was the one and only time he has ever personally sported a ribbon for a cause.

Jon was sixteen years old and attending [[Haines City High School]], just ninety miles from Kennedy Space Center. It wasn't uncommon to watch the conn trail of a morning or afternoon launch in the sky to the northeast during school hours.

It is described as a game of "world domination" in which the person who gets rid of their cards first becomes the Great Dalmuti -- a kind of a king-of-the-world. Each person is ranked according to when they go out, all the way down to the Greater Peon, who must do all the shuffling, dealing, and "cleaning the world," or taking the cards off the table. Some people really get into the game and roleplay, especially if they are the Dalmuti. The Great Dalmuti for the round may wear a crown (and force the Greater Peon to wear a jester's hat), and may request or demand that his subjects at the table do certain tasks for him/her (especially the poor Greater Peon). Jon Reddick specially made a Dalmuti "sceptor" (little more than a wooden spatula with a designed carved in it and painted gold) for a Dalmuti to whack inattentive players when they took too long at their turns or tasks, although not many Dalmutis used it with the same relish as he.
