{{tocleft}}Denise Duggan is writing this article at the request of the wiki owner but can't imagine why anyone would care about this information about her. But because she cannot deny the request of her Captain (don't care what rank he is.... he'll always be Cap'n Jon to me) she's writing this. [[Image:Rose_and_crown.jpg|right|thumb|200px|Denise & Jim at the Rose & Crown pub]]

==Childhood==
Denise was born in Columbia, SC at Providence Hospital in 1966. When she was five years old her parents got a divorce. For two years she was shuttled between the two of them, attending four schools in her first two years. When she was seven she went to live with her maternal grandparents who became her Mom and Daddy. At that point her childhood became fairly uneventful filled with summer camps and TAG programs until she was 15 years old. That's when her Daddy died suddenly. Unfortunately, she was just coming out of that teenaged funk and realizing that maybe her Daddy was smarter than she thought he was. Talk about missed opportunities! But from that point forward her Mom was mom and dad to her and Mom did a wonderful job - becoming absolutely the wind beneath her wings.

==Education==
* Florida State University (was halfway to CompSci degree when got a job in programming)
* Florida State University (earned BA in History)
* Tallahassee Community College (earned AA)
* University of South Carolina, 1984 through 1988 (dropped out a time or two)
* Chapin High School, 5th grade through 1984 (no middle school in Chapin at the time)
* Chapin Elementary School through the 5th grade
* Several elementary schools, eventually Seminole Elementary until the 4th grade

==Employment==
* Trak Engineering, Inc (Embedded Systems Programmer)
* State of Florida - Department of Business and Professional Regulation (Programmer)
* Denise Duggan Development (owner - left for benefits of job with state - with young kids, must have health insurance)
* Computer Aid, Inc. / Professional Analytical Systems & Services (Programmer & Analyst) (PASS was bought by CAI)
* Capital Collateral Representative (Legal Secretary)
* Kelly Services, Inc.
* Numerous fast food and other jobs

==Family==
Denise is married to a wonderful man, Jim Duggan, who has a magical way of making her feel totally free to do what she wants and totally protected all at the same time. She has two sons, James and Joey. They're teenagers now (Joey almost) and life is getting interesting because of that. But they're wonderful kids.
==Scouting==
This is another one that's going to take some time. Will work on it in a while.

==Heroes==
* Scarlett O'Hara - because nothing stops her. No matter the obstacles she'll find a way to get through them
* Walt Disney - it all started with a mouse and is now an empire. When he got to CA he had $40 in his pocket and nothing else. The more I learn about the man, the more I am impressed with what he's done.

Free forums, free chat room, listings of Scouting requirements that can be met doing Disney activities at home and at Walt Disney World. Great ideas for homeschoolers too.

The '''Kevin Bacon Game''', also known as [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kevin_Bacon_Game Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon] is based on a variation of the concept of the small world phenomenon and states that any actor can be linked, through their film roles, to actor Kevin Bacon.

The game requires a group of players to try to connect any film actor in history to Kevin Bacon as quickly as possible and in as few links as possible. The game was played across various college campuses as early as the early 1990s. Its name is a pun on the stage play Six Degrees of Separation. In 2007, Bacon himself started a charitable organization named SixDegrees.org.

==Significance==
The Kevin Bacon Game was played prolifically by certain members of the [[USS Khai Tam]] during the late ninties, espceically during road trips to various science fiction conventions. Certain members played so ferverently, that some other members would actually demand they stop.

Three of the usual culprits, [[Kevin McNulty]], [[George Sumpter]], and [[Gerbil Boy|Scott Campbell]] even went so far as to create a ''Star Trek'' version of the game to run at a convention. Called, "Six Degrees of Trek," the game involved the panel of three linking actors shouted out by the audience to actors who had been regulars on a ''Trek'' series. Candy was passed out to anyone who could stump the panel.

==Bacon Numbers==
A person's "Bacon Number" is the number of steps it takes to link them to Kevin Bacon. With a slight expansion of the rules, the following Bacon Numbers can be computed for [[REDdimension Wiki Circle]]members:

* [[Pamela Harper]] has a Bacon Number of 3
** Tom Arnold was in ''We Married Margo'' with Kevin Bacon
** Debbie's cousin is Ralph James
** Ralph James was in ''Big Bad Mama'' with Tom Signorelli
** Tom Signorelli was in Sleepers with Kevin Bacon
* [[Kevin McNulty]] has a Bacon Number of 3
** Kevin Peter Hall was in ''Harry and the Hendersons'' with John Lithgow

[[Erin McNulty]] made a very memorable entrance into this world on July 12, 1995. After hours of labor, mother Debbie was exhausted but ready to get things over with. Kevin was sitting next to the midwife ready to help deliver little Erin as he had her brother [[Sean McNulty|Sean]]. Family friend [[OJ|Jon Carney]] was holding Debbie’s hand serving as labor coach, and the pushing was under full steam. Erin’s head cleared the birth canal, and Kevin saw her little scalp suddenly turn from pink to purple to blue.

“Call high risk!” said the midwife.

In 20 seconds the room was filled with people and Kevin had been pushed aside. Erin’s shoulder was stuck, and her umbilical cord was looped over her shoulder so that the pressure of being stuck in the birth canal was pinching off the vital blood supply.

Nurses helped Jon prop up Debbie’s back so she could bear down. She had only seconds to push Erin the rest of the way out. Pushing the baby back in and performing an emergency C-section was not a great option, but they were fast running out of alternatives. Everyone was shouting at Debbie to push as Kevin sat helplessly by. Debbie was so focused on pushing that she really had no idea what was happening. She hadn’t heard the midwife say the words “high risk.”

Finally, the pushing worked and Erin was delivered. She was blue and limp. She made no sound or movement. The midwife quickly moved her to the warming table where a nurse was waiting with oxygen. They waved the open-ended oxygen tube under the baby’s nose, and rubbed her vigorously with towels to get her circulation flowing again.

“Breathe, baby, breath,” was all Kevin could mutter from the corner.

Finally, Erin began to cough and stir. In a few seconds, she began to cry. It was the most wonderful sound in the world to Kevin. The whole thing had only taken about a minute, but it was the longest minute of his life.

Meanwhile, Debbie had delivered the afterbirth and could finally take a breath and take stock of her surroundings. Just about the time she began to worry, ''Shouldn’t I hear Erin crying by now?'' was about the time Erin finally did start crying. Debbie never really knew how close it had been until it was all well over.

{{tocright}}[[Image:Challenger disaster.jpg|thumb|left|200px|Smoke plume left in the sky moments after the loss of Space Shuttle Challenger]]On the morning of January 28, 1986, the United State [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space_Shuttle_Challenger Space Shuttle Challenger] was scheduled to launch from Kennedy Space Center in central Florida.

At 11:38 a.m. EST the ship lifted from its launchpad with seven American astronauts, and 73 seconds later, Challenger [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space_Shuttle_Challenger_disaster was no more].

Below are the memories of [[REDdimension Wiki Circle]] members relating where they were when the shuttle exploded in the sky over the Atlantic Ocean just off Florida's east coast and how the national tragedy impacted their lives.
{{cleanbreak}}
==[[Kevin McNulty]]==
Kevin was 22 and finishing his last semester at California State University, Fullerton. He was asleep at 8:38 a.m. Pacific Time since he didn't have a class on Tuesday until 10:00. Somewhere around 8:45, his mother rushed in to wake him.

"Kev, the space shuttle exploded..."

Trying to wrap his still-dawning consciousness around the thought, he stumbled into the living room to see the news replaying every camera angle they could, trying to determine what had happened. Though they weren't saying anything official, it was clear to Kevin that no one had survived.

On the way to school, Kevin stopped at a fabric store to buy a few inches of black ribbon to pin to his shirt. It was the one and only time he has ever personally sported a ribbon for a cause.

<blockquote>''I was in shock for a couple of days. I didn't know any of the astronauts, but the space program had been a part of me as long as I could remember, and I felt like I lost someone close to me when I heard the news. It would be the same when I heard about Columbia years later.''</blockquote>

==[[Jon Reddick]]==
Jon was sixteen years old and attending [[Haines City High School]], just ninety miles from Kennedy Space Center. It wasn't uncommon to watch the conn trail of a morning or afternoon launch in the sky to the northeast during school hours.
<blockquote>''By the time of the Challenger, I had watched so many shuttle launches they almost seemed commonplace, so that morning I was at school and on my lunch break, but forgot about the launch and was just killing time hanging out with my friends in the band hall.<br><br>

''Shortly before noon some other kids who had been out on the loading dock of the band hall waiting to watch Challenger go up came running in very agitated yelling, "Hey, the space shuttle just blew up!"<br><br>

''I was sure they were kidding, but after a minute or two was convinced enough to go outside and see for myself. What I saw was striking. For better or for worse, I can say that while I didn't see the actual explosion, I witnessed that now infamous forked smoke pattern in the sky to the east caused by the solid rocket boosters tearing the shuttle apart. Not on TV, not on the news, but in person and with my own eyes.<br><br>

''As chance would have it, one of my [[Jason Harden|very best friends]] had stayed home sick that day, and had been recording the launch live on television. After school I went to his house and we watched and re-watched the VHS of the explosion as it had happened earlier in the morning.''
</blockquote>

==[[Colin Toenjes]]==
Colin was eleven years old and was attending Waterloo Junior High School.

<blockquote>''I didn't know about it until the afternoon. I heard people talking about the Shuttle throughout the day but didn't find out the details of what happened until after school. My mother worked in the Junior High/High School Library at the time and when I went down to wait for her to finish work for the day, she told me all the details. I saw the explosion for the first time on the news that night.<br><br>I have watched a lot of the subsequent shuttle launches on television, and I still shudder and hold my breath when the flight controllers say "Shuttle go at throttle up."''
</blockquote>

==[[Ro Reddick]]==
<blockquote>''I was living in Mobile, Alabama and working for the University of South Alabama Department of Neurosurgery as a medical transcriptionist. I heard about it at work, as all around the building everyone was buzzing. I didn't get to see the footage until I got home where I watched it again and again.

I couldn't believe how much it touched me. I followed the news for days afterwards just trying to understand how and why it happened. Why did it have to happen on this flight? Why with the first civilian? I guess I wasn't aware of how much hope that particular flight gave me -- gave everyone. It was one of those "a giant leap for mankind" kind of things, but the whole world watched that "leap" spiral from the sky that day.''</blockquote>

[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Great_Dalmuti The Great Dalmuti] is a wonderfully simple, but difficult to master, card game that was popular throughout Starfleet chapters, beginning in the mid 1990's. It is described as a game of "world domination" in which the person who gets rid of their cards first becomes the Great Dalmuti -- a kind of a king-of-the-world. Each person is ranked according to when they go out, all the way down to the Greater Peon, who must do all the shuffling, dealing, and "cleaning the world," or taking the cards off the table. Some people really get into the game and roleplay, especially if they are the Dalmuti. The Great Dalmuti for the round may wear a crown (and force the Greater Peon to wear a jester's hat), and may request or demand that his subjects at the table do certain tasks for him/her (especially the poor Greater Peon). Jon Reddick specially made a Dalmuti "sceptor" (little more than a wooden spatula with a designed carved in it and painted gold) for a Dalmuti to whack inattentive players when they took too long at their turns or tasks, although not many Dalmutis used it with the same relish as he.

Tai, are you getting a line across the Runabout image? I'm seeing one on the Kaskaskia page too... CT

You can insert the following: <nowiki><br style="clear:both;"/></nowiki> ... to force a the next text to start after all wrapping around images is done. That should fix the "line" seen in some browsers. --[[User:Reddick|Jon]] 07:07, 21 September 2007 (CDT)

Interestingly, the line doesn't show across the image in Safari. Looked perfect at my house. Thanks for the tip though, I'm sure I'll use it often. --[[User:170.153.212.251|170.153.212.251]] 07:11, 21 September 2007 (CDT)
