"I joined the Khai Tam in July of 1996. I first became a Communications Member and moved to ADC. I then transferred to Medical in 1997 and became DC. At the end of 1997, I transferred back to Communications as ADC, where I held that position until October of 1998 when I became DC. I like participating in projects where we help the community, i.e. the Adopt a Family Project at Christmas time. I truly enjoy publishing and distributing the monthly newsletter. I think I have really found my niche! "As DC of the Communications Department I want to make the department fun and exciting by recruiting active members and inspiring the ones we already have through various projects and parties. I’d like to offer worthwhile community service projects where we can serve the public and make a difference. "My goal as editor of the Hailing Frequency is to produce an interesting and informative newsletter and keep people current on what is happening with the ship. I can’t force anyone to do anything because this club is based on the voluntary participation of its members. I would like to see the current members get involved with the ship and our department by offering their own story ideas and writing whatever they are inspired to write. Also, I would like to see our department members reach out to the other ship members and assign story projects to them, so that we can get a wide variety of articles for the Hailing Frequency. As DC, I have tried my best to print information regarding our ship’s activities and our members. Unfortunately, I am the one writing most of the articles, so I hope that other people will get inspired to help out. I have tried to keep the same general format that previous DC’s have used in the past. I re-added the birthday list and will print any kind of announcement the members have, in the HF. I want members of the Communications Department to have fun. "But, you don’t have to be a Communications member to participate in the creation of the HF. Any and all help is always appreciated!" | |
